48 Hours to Africa!

Imagine being in a gorgeous tropical island in the middle of the ocean and in 48 hours being dropped in one of most dangerous and most beautiful places in the planet – Africa!

We have spent the last 6 weeks in Bali meditating about life, redesigning this blog, practicing Yoga and embracing our new lifestyle. We have also been planning our next leg in our holistic healing journey – Africa!

Africa Route

The plan for Africa is to travel by motorcycle across the continent. We will start in Cape Town and from there we will travel north. As of today we are not completely sure how far north we will be able to reach, however, if the political situations, weather and safety permit we plan to reach Egypt.

Over the last 6 months our focus has been to find our internal Self. We visited spiritual places, we embraced spiritual practices and have traveled within ourselves through meditation and other techniques such as Yoga Nidra. Now we plan to travel outside ourselves and to help other people.

Every year in Africa over 200 million people get infected with malaria and of those more than 500,000 people die. The shocking part about these statistics is that malaria is a preventable and curable disease. The saddest part is that over 90% of the of the people who die are children below the age of 5. Malaria is the number 1 killer in Africa and we want to do something about it.

Through this blog, social media and traditional media we plan to increase awareness about this deadly diseases and motivate people like you to take action to help eradicate this disease. We have started to develop online tools to facilitate knowledge sharing about new strategies to fight this diseases.  If you are interested to learn more about our initiative or are interested in supporting us please leave a comment below or send us a message.

Today we are starting to pack. Last night was difficult to sleep. Maybe because we don’t know what to expect upon arrival in Africa. Traveling by motorcycle is not easy and is not the safest method of transportation. So we are in this emotional roller coaster of excitement and doubt – are we really doing this???

Golden Triangle in India

We did a 6 day tour around the Golden Triangle in India. The Golden Triangle is  a tourist circuit composed of 3 cities in India: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Below are some of the highlights of this circuit and our time there.

Taj Mahal, Agra around 6:20am: probably the most beautiful building in India, completed around 1653, after 21 years of work. It looks like a temple but it is actually a white marble mausoleum, built by one of India’s Mughal emperors in memory of his wife.

After doing some tourism around India’s capital we headed north to Rishikesh, also known as the world’s capital of Yoga!

Flight booked for India – August 4th

Our next destination is India. We will be flying into Delhi and then spend 6 days exploring the Golden Triangle. We will visit Delhi with students from the non-profit Goonj, then we will head to Agra to see the amazing Taj Mahal and from there we will go to Jaipur.

After the Golden Triangle we will head to Rishikesh, the world capital of Yoga, where we will spend time learning more about Yoga. From Rishikesh we will go Hyderabad for a few nights to visit friends. Finally we will end the trip in Auroville a universal city in the making.

As with any plans there will probably changes… but we will try to stick to the above itinerary.

About Us

Road to happiness

Our friends call us Tarci and Salva. Tarci was born in Recife, Brazil, spent most of her life in Brasília and left her home country in 2007 to study and work in the United States and then Mexico. Salva was born in Fiesole, Italy, spent roughly 9 years of his life in his Dad’s country (Italy), 9 years in his Mom’s country (Nicaragua) and the rest in the United States, Switzerland and traveling in Latin America. After a successful career at Novartis Pharmaceuticals we decided to take a break from the corporate world to travel across Asia and Africa.

The purpose of our journey in Asia is to learn more about how different cultures in Asia nourish the body, mind and soul. We are planning to take several courses in preventive medicine and holistic healing.

Then we will travel by motorcycle from Cape Town to Cairo raising awareness on malaria and creating a knowledge platform to fight this deadly disease. Malaria kills almost 1 million people per year, mostly children.

Tarciana is a marketer by training and has spent the last 8 years working in different industries doing what she knows best – business and marketing. Salvador is a scientist by training and has spent the last 9 years working in Competitive Intelligence in healthcare.

We plan to leverage our work experiences and education in our upcoming travels. This blog serves as a way to share what we learn during our journey and as communication channel between us and our families and friends. All visitors are welcome to read about the Trip We Love.
