12 Special Moments in 2012

According to the Mayan calendar, an era in humanity’s history ended on December 21, 2012.  After this date, begins a new 5,125-year cycle. This transition marked a shift in human consciousness. Researchers devoted to the study of consciousness and evolution say that a large segment of humanity will not be ready for this evolutionary leap, but those who are will be in a place to help those souls who are still focused on war, conflict and segregation. People who are already making this evolutionary shift will pave the way for others to move towards “unity” and “oneness”.

It is an interesting coincidence that in 2012 we decided to radically change our lives and that this thought crossed our minds in Mexico, close to where the ancient Mayan civilization settled.

We hope that in 2013 we see more natural holistic healing methods preventing diseases, people becoming more spiritual, and resources being channeled to those who need it the most.

We leave you with a summary of 12 special moments in 2012 and with a prayer to achieve true freedom through love in 2013.

Auroville – A City for Human Unity

It is said that all men of goodwill, who thirst for progress and aspire to a higher and truer life are invited to Auroville. Auroville is a young city, inaugurated in 1968 by representatives of 124 countries and 23 Indian states, who placed a handful of earth from their countries in a lotus-shaped urn as a symbol of human unity.

Auroville does not belong to India nor to any other country. It is a universal town that belongs to Humanity. The idea of the city came to The Mother in the 1930s. She met Sri Aurobindo in the early 1900s and immediately recognized him as a guru. Together, they worked to help us evolve our level of consciousness. With the mind development, they believed humans could consciously participate in the process of inner discovery and life’s true purpose, not only as an individual but also as a meaningful part of our evolving world.

Thank to Salvador’s Dad, Carlo Carlucci, we decided to visit this universal city and experienced one of the most amazing feelings in the world inside the Matrimandir.

We leave you with this short inspirational quote from The Mother. We hope it helps you in your self-discovery process.

For millennia, we have been developing outer means, outer instruments, outer techniques of living and finally those means and techniques are crushing us. The sign of the new humanity is a reversal in the standpoint, and the understanding that inner knowledge and inner technique can change the world and master it without crushing it.

Auroville is a place where this new way of living is being worked out, it is a centre of accelerated evolution where man must begin to change his world through the power of his inner spirit.

Rishikesh ‘Yoga Capital of the World’

“Ever since the Beatles rocked up at the ashram of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the late ’60s, Rishikesh has been a magnet for spiritual seekers.”

The Beatles traveled to Rishikesh in 1968 to study Transcendental Meditation and composed nearly
48 songs, many of which appear in the White Album. This inspiring place, set in the foothills of the Himalayas, and on the banks of the sacred Ganges River, was where we started learning about the spiritual and philosophical aspects of Yoga. We highly recommend the book Bhagavad Gita as well as others in our library.

We thought this would be a very quiet city but it is actually not that easy to find peaceful places among the cars, motorcycles, monkeys, cows, people and other noises that you would only know if you have been to India. It can also be a little “dangerous”! Salva was attacked by monkeys who stole his mango and bananas while he was crossing the bridge. He tried to hide it from them but the monkeys were pretty determined. They would not let us by until we gave them everything! Check out the short video below.

To get the full experience we could not miss a visit to a local recommended astrologer, where we did our Vedic horoscope, birth charts, palm reading and a spiritual ritual to bring us protection, love and health.

Golden Triangle in India

We did a 6 day tour around the Golden Triangle in India. The Golden Triangle is  a tourist circuit composed of 3 cities in India: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Below are some of the highlights of this circuit and our time there.

Taj Mahal, Agra around 6:20am: probably the most beautiful building in India, completed around 1653, after 21 years of work. It looks like a temple but it is actually a white marble mausoleum, built by one of India’s Mughal emperors in memory of his wife.

After doing some tourism around India’s capital we headed north to Rishikesh, also known as the world’s capital of Yoga!

We are in India!

Taj_Mahal_India_Trip_We_Love

We are in Auroville. India has kept us busy. Between slow internet connections and no internet connections we have not been able to keep the blog up to date. The most important thing is that we are well and enjoying our time is the country of contrasts. Since we have arrived we have been on the move trying to see as much as possible before the visa expires.

The Taj Mahal (picture above) was amazing and all the other places we have visited have provided unforgettable experiences. We finally found a good internet cafe and we will be posting more pictures soon. Leave us a comment!
